I became a Saucony Canada athlete in 2024, and the first Saucony shoe I wore was the Endorphin Elite V1. I instantly fell in love with this shoe, logging some of my best long runs and workouts in them. I raced in them at the 2024 Canadian Championships, where I earned a bronze medal.

I have been using Maurten products for over seven years, and from day one, I was fascinated by the science behind them and how they applied to my own elite distance running. I first heard about Maurten through Mike and Maya, the owners of BlackToe Running, a specialty running store in Toronto. When BlackToe started carrying Maurten in 2017, Mike invited me to talk about the products and lead a group run. I educated the staff and runners about Maurten Drink Mix and created educational handouts that they kept in-store and on their website. I led several events for them, speaking passionately about the products because I truly believed in them.

From 2017 to 2019, I pursued the IOC Sports Nutrition Diploma, and in 2018, I met Tobias Christensson, Head of Nutrition at Maurten, at the Berlin Marathon—only to discover we were in the same graduating class! Through the program, we learned about carbohydrate intake for endurance athletes and the challenges of consuming high amounts at high intensities. We also explored why sufficient carbohydrate intake is essential for fueling long-duration, high-intensity efforts. When I discovered Maurten and how its hydrogel technology encapsulates high concentrations of carbohydrates to improve tolerance, I became even more fascinated by the science behind endurance fueling.

During long runs and races, I found that Maurten allowed me to tolerate more carbohydrates per hour than ever before, providing steady energy without GI distress. It almost felt like magic—I was used to drinks digesting slowly, but Maurten was different. When the gels launched, I was even more excited; their convenience made it even easier to reach higher carbohydrate intake goals. This played a crucial role in improving my energy availability during training and helped my recovery from RED-S. Before using Maurten, I struggled with low energy availability and had five bone stress injuries over several years, which caused me to miss the World Championships Marathon in London in 2017.

As a dietitian, I only recommend products I firmly believe in, and I feel especially passionate about Maurten because it has helped me train and race at a high level for years. I’ve had my most consistent training block yet, without injuries, and a key factor has been optimizing carbohydrate intake to keep my muscles fueled.
